"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say that we are the ones that need help?" ~ Mark Twain
Thank you for calling out this behavior as abusive - that is what it is is. Brain washing a child to instill fear so that they follow your orders is not parenting. It isn’t instilling morals or ethics. It is abuse! Christians are so blind to their delusions and repeated abuse that they accept all the pedo men as normal.
I taught in a school where a parent tried to get The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe banned because it had the word witch in the title. He didn’t know it was a Christian allegory. Another parent objected to a book a colleague was teaching, and she asked the parent for an alternate title. The one suggested: God’s Little Acre. Gotta love the nuts.
A brilliant post. Thanks to Candace Cameron’s enlightening insights I now realize the numerous portals I opened up to my poor unsuspecting children, who now have quirky and wicked senses of humor. The shame. I took my oldest to see the South Park movie - gateway to hell probably. And both are enormous Rugrats fans. Whenever I call either one they say “mom you must be psycho “ (quoting Angelica’s famous attempt to be a Miss Cleo type psychic). I’m going to hell.
IF (and it's a rather big IF), televisions are a portal to any supernatural reality, I would say the Spielberg-produced film "Poltergeist" made the case more convincingly than any Evangelical preacher. Come to think of it, I'm pretty convinced that Pat Robertson of the 700 club is evil, so maybe that's a point in favor of the idea.
As for the whole "just a few weirdos" notion, I am pretty convinced that the two worst periods in all of Christian history are the late Middle Ages, and American Evangelicalism in the 20th and 21st century. The whole culture of both of them is pretty sick at its foundation.
(Just) a bit more seriously, while I am not an atheist, I am convinced that the entire Western classical mythology of demons as fallen angels is entirely false.
If some sort of master evil spirit exists, I think he is doing as CS Lewis suggested, filling people with hatred of one mistake in order to drive them into the opposite mistake. (Lewis also said his faith would not be in ruins if it were clearly shown that demons do not exist.) I recently listened to Monty Python's John Cleese audio recording of Lewis's "The Screwtape Letters" and it is certainly a more subtle and sophisticated view of evil than I get from the MAGA crowd.
My favorite television as a child was Superman (the 1950s George Reeves series), the Three Stooges, and Popeye. At a later age, Star Trek and the Twilight Zone. All quality good stuff. I've never regretted any of it.
Well, that explains the "Reality Tv Real Housewives" of crap. They do look a bit demonic. Just kidding, that warped teaching is child-abuse, I am so sorry the person that should have nurtured you, instead abused you in the name of some insane belief system. I hope you have a good support system who love you as you deserve.
The worst think you can do to a child is to instilled fear of some sort of demonic possessions how horrible 😢 and cruel a mother can be with their fragile innocent child, that in itself can cause Post Traumatic disorder.😢 a mother role is to attend and sooth and comfort the child's fear and pain 😢 I had been to a church as a child and had witnessed how my pastor was praying for my friend to take the demons out of her !!! For me it was a horrifying experience that's why I HATE CHURCHES AND ALL THE ASSWHOLE SO CALLED CHRISTIANS 😡😡😡
I'm a Christian, but if someone came up to me and said that demons were coming out of the TV I would suggest they see a mental health expert. I have known people with schizophrenia that behave this way.
There are a couple of Calvin and Hobbs strips that perfectly match my view of Television. Something about bowing at the alter of passive entertainment and a bowl of warm Tapioca. Demons, not so much, just ignorance and stupidity.
Candace Cameron (sister of Kirk) is married to Pavel Bure, a former NHL player from Russia/Soviet Union. Bure was involved with a fellow Russian, the tennis player/model Anna Kournikova (derisively called Anna Pornikova, during her playing days), who also dated Sergei Federov, another hockey player when she was 16. She is married to Enrique Igleisas.
Cameron is best known for her role on Full House and it's later sequel Fuller House. She also makes Hallmark movies.

That would definitely explain Trump!

Sad. Such superstitious drivel isn't typical of all Christian churches, but the map to it is there in the BuyBull.
